Slowly, the progressive/socialist stranglehold on American media is beginning to break.
First was the Three Rules of gun handling presented on Blue Bloods.
Last night, ABC’s Castle exposed the Occupy movement in the “47 Seconds” episode.
You can watch the episode in full here.
The show opens with a video reporter doing a standup at the scene of a Occupy Wall Street protest. (The part of Occupy is played by “Takeover!”, including the exclamation point. I don’t know if the showrunners intended this or not, but the repeated inclusion of the exclamation point got tiresome as the show went on. This was a Good Thing, because it pointed up the self-important shrillness of such movements.)
Just as her piece gets underway, there’s an explosion that kills five people and wounds many others.
[Behind the spoiler tag, I reveal the outcome of the show.]

As is usual with the modern cop show, an “obvious” suspect turns up in the first half. The pattern is that a member of an oppressed victims group, such as a Muslim or illegal immigrant, is exonerated, and a member of the rich ruling class turns out to be the perpetrator.
Here, the “oppressed” false suspect is a right winger with a history of protesting the protests.
In fact, though, the bomb was planted by a leader of the Takeover! movement, and was detonated by the reporter, in order to drum up support for the movement and create a juicy story.
That’s right: The Occupy movement is revealed as a fraud operating in collusion with a sympathetic press pursuing its own aggrandizement.
There were other juicy things about this show, including a twist in the romance between Castle and Beckett that says something about what Beckett has given up to pursue her independence.
But this wholesale rejection of one of the supposedly most popular movements of our time is stunning, and very welcome.
