Congressional Misdirection

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Shep Smith on Fox News explains that, no, the AIG executive bonuses are not the cause of our current problems, not even the worst effect.

Yes, I know it’s the evil Fox News. Watch it anyway. Don’t use ad hominem — Tell me why Smith is wrong.

The root cause is Congress, including many of those, such as Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn), and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass) now banging the drum most loudly for lynching the capitalists.

Don’t believe them. They are desperate to keep us from realizing that it is in fact all their fault, and that their planned fixes will only make it all much, much worse.

Here it is again, this time from Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich) on the House floor via CSPAN:

If, in the last election, you voted for Obama, or for any Democrat, you voted for the lying thugs who started this mess and plan to make it worse as an excuse to own you, own you outright.

“Nancy Pelosi, Bad Party Guest”

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Ace of Spades:

I just caught a snippet of Nancy Pelosi’s press briefing. She said, and I quote, “tell Wall Street the party is over.”

Is Nancy talking about the party where she, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Barney Frank showed up, swilled all the good liquor, double dipped, left water rings on your heirloom side table, invited a bunch of people you didn’t know, got drunk and then freaked out all your friends making weird faces, telling the same bad joke over an over and making passes at everybody who walked by?

Yeah, read the whole thing for some delicious morning snark, and follow all the links.

And then pay attention to how little attention the Official Press gives these stories.

Jackels: Dems and Repubs on Fannie/Freddie

Monday, September 29th, 2008

From a hearing in 2004, regulators and Republicans warning that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are headed for trouble, while Democrats Rep. Maxine Waters, Artur Davis, Lacy Clay, and Barney Frank insist there’s nothing wrong, and Rep. Gregory Meeks lambasts the regulators for claiming there was.

And at the end, see Bill Clinton acknowledge Democrat responsibility.

Barney Frank, in particular, now seems to be in the vanguard calling for Republican heads for doing nothing to stop this crisis.

Why the bloody hell isn’t this stuff all over CNN, CNBC, and Fox?
