Well, now, that’s just weird. I’ve been reading your name as “Glick”, with a “gee”, for as long as you’ve been posting at PW. And I always thought, wow, “Glick?” Really? Not “Click”, with a “see”? [quick check] Nope, it’s “Glick”.

Honestly, I have seen some discussion on blogs about MA’s health care, but I admit that interpretation has not been brought up. All I’ve heard are hints that MA voters were concerned a federal system would supersede their own. Don’t know enough myself to comment.

The reaction you mention is well known, but I think the reaction seen in MA is unusually strong.

Has ANYONE on this station mentioned that MA ALREADY HAD UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE AND THE POPULATION CARES LESS ABOUT THE REST OF US?
Don’t pardon me for screaming. I am furious that this has not been talked about or revealed as an important issue in this campaign??

Also, has anyone really stressed the known reaction in the next congressional elections, with most presidents, the dominant party has changed in at least in one congressional branch in Washington?

Not only am I a commenter, I am the proprietor too .

But thanks for the linkage back to his post and my site. I certainly agree that there is a very good chance the reuglations will be applied to all flyers equally, but given that some of the most stringent ones have already been relaxed, I think we should wait and see how the chips fall before embarking on the inevitable hysterics .

Yup, pretty much my quandry here. I can’t decide to believe. I can choose how I live, but I can’t believe just because I want to. I need to know.

Agree that Lewis’s Mere Christianity will do nothing but look silly to anyone who doesn’t already believe.

Have you ever read God of Jesus by Stephen Patterson? That book came real close to making a believer out of me. I wish it would have.

A good pre-read would be The Jesus Seminar and Its Critics.

I’ve read several of Lewis’ works, including Mere Christianity. I confess I don’t much care for his allegorical fantasy, but the sober discussion is very enlightening, although again, his belief in the magical stuff weakens his message for me.

The tendency for entropy to increase is not evil — it is the running down of the main spring of the Universe. Nothing can happen without it.

Anything that increases intelligent awareness, maybe…”inteligence” is at once too narrow and too poorly defined.

I’m not following your logic on the Leakeys, I confess.

How about, “Entropy = Evil”? But does that mean “Totalitarianism = Good”? Scratch that.

How about, “Intelligent life is the most unique thing in the universe, so intelligent life = Good”, and therefore, anything that promotes the increase in intelligent life is also good?

Algae can’t do calculus and wolves can’t perceive quasars, but we can, so we’re better than them. But by that logic, the Leakeys would have been justified in snapping the necks of African babies, so that can’t be good either.

I’m in a place not unlike you, but if you have never read Francis Shaeffer or C.S. Lewis, you might find them helpful. I especially like Shaeffer’s “How Should We Then Live?”
