Monday, August 4th, 2008

[update: Saturday. OK, I'm tired of it now.]

This post will stay at the top until…oh, until I get tired of seeing it. Give it a few days, maybe till Friday. Scroll down for new posts.

Tickets for the Pink Camo Breast Cancer Stag-15 Rifle are on sale at FBMG:

This Stag has been Duracoated in the oh so pretty pink camo job and is being raffled off to aid the fight against breats cancer. ALL procedes from this raffle will go to the breast cancer research effort at the American Cancer Society. FBMG has donated the firearms and our smith donated the effort and materials. We will announce the raffle at the 3rd Annual Machinegun shoot on October 4th. There is no limit to the number of tickets you may purchase. If you live in a prohibitted state, you may still enter, but we obviously can not ship the gun to you so you would need to make other arraingements. When you purchase a ticket, we will take your entry information and fill out a raffle ticket for you and place it in the jar. If you win we will call you the day of the shoot and inform you of your good fortune. Thanks for entering and good luck!

Per Larry Coreia at Monster Hunter Nation:

Cruelty is Fun!

I’m helping to send SF author John Scalzi to the Creationist Museum:

I will go to the Creation Museum and file a full, detailed and delightfully snarklicious report of the trip IF AND ONLY IF I receive at least $250 in donations via PayPal by 11:59pm NEXT FRIDAY, June 15, 2007. ALL the proceeds (minus PayPal’s processing bite) will then be donated to Americans United for Separation of Church and State, an organization which for sixty years has striven to keep the chunky peanut butter of religion out of the dusky chocolate of good government.

Because, damn, I hate chunky peanut butter.

In what I sincerely hope is a futile struggle to avoid his doom, Mr. Scalzi is asking for donations of only $5, which would require 50 donations. I’m chucking in a tenner. Going through his 86 comments, I think he’s doomed.

From the Appeal for Courage. Other graphs on that page show demographic breakdowns of signers of the Appeal for Courage, an official Appeal for Redress from active duty military to Congress.

As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.

I Support Our Troops When They Kill Our Enemies…

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

…And I’ll support our politicians when they bloody goddamnit stop getting in the way.

I signed this petition:

If the United States Senate passes a resolution, non-binding or otherwise, that criticizes the commitment of additional troops to Iraq that General Petraeus has asked for and that the president has pledged, and if the Senate does so after the testimony of General Petraeus on January 23 that such a resolution will be an encouragement to the enemy, I will not contribute to any Republican senator who voted for the resolution. Further, if any Republican senator who votes for such a resolution is a candidate for re-election in 2008, I will not contribute to the National Republican Senatorial Committee unless the Chairman of that Committee, Senator Ensign, commits in writing that none of the funds of the NRSC will go to support the re-election of any senator supporting the non-binding resolution.
