My Senators, Kay Bailey Hutchinson and John Cornyn, and my Representative, Gene Green, are all signatories to the Congressional Brief to the Supreme Court in the D.C. versus Heller gun control case.
This is a noble stand for all three, but particularly for Green, who is a Democrat.
My note to Green follows:
I am very pleased to see that you are a signatory to the Brief for Amici Curiae in Support of Respondent in case No. 07-290, District of Columbia, et al., versus Dick Anthony Heller (a.k.a. the D.C. Gun Case), currently before the Supreme Court.Of course, this case reaches far beyond the boundaries of the District, as it promises to cement the personal right of all Americans to possess and carry arms in defense of their lives, liberty, and happiness.
Your support is all the more meaningful, even courageous, given that you are acting in defiance of much of your party’s leadership, including the two leading Democratic candidates for the Presidency, and the majority of your fellow representatives. There is, after all, still hope for the Democratic Party.
I thank you and salute you, sir, for defending this crucial right.
Notes to Hutchinson and Cornyn will follow, but Green deserves special recognition.
